Winter Thoughts.........

The canyon this night
is a pallette of white
as earth and sky meet
and become intertwined
one with the other...
my worst nightmare
comes upon me suddenly
drawing me to the edge of my seat...
body tense...eyes alert...foot at the ready...
trying to spot a familiar landmark
in the whiteness...
anything...which will tell...
road from ravine...but such help...
is not by my side tonight...
so I must turn to inner instincts
to know whether the path
will turn this way...or that...
climp up...or fall down...
and counting on my trusty black steed
not to falter or stall
we crawl in the sprawl of
this Colorado mountain
white...out.........................
