Aspen Stand

The aspen stand like silhouetted skeletons
against the warm blue sky...
their bloomless limbs
a sharp contrast
to the flowering going on
all around them...
the starkness is striking against
the timely returnees'
green red and pink...
and I can only wonder why
colorado's gold is so long
in returning................
