Ice Hails

It hailed a few evenings ago
and when the fury
had passed
puddles of cold ice
lay on the brown ground...
so I found my thoughts
turning
to the seasonal churning
soon to be up on us...

later...the fog
hung heavy
between sky and earth
veiling the valley
in a shroud of fine white................
