Sweet Scents

I opened the door into my room last week and was greeted by the sweetest scent. I couldn't figure out what it was...several deep inhalations later...I was drawn into the adjoining room...that irresistable... delicious... fragrance getting stronger with each step...
Before christmas I had been graciously given some bulbs which were just beginning to sprout stalks of green. The bulbs were in a pot filled with small stones...similarly to how bamboo plants are planted. I filled the flowerpot with water...put it next to the other lovely plants in my "greenarea"...and watched its daily progress to growth. I had no idea what the flowers would look like when they finally made their appearance...or that more than my eyes would be in for a treat...
The day that they first scented the rooms...I saw in wonder the small delicate white flowers beginning to open....eight or nine trumpeting buds to each stalk. Days have passed ...still...as I write this...my nostrils fill with the heavenly aroma...of the paperwhite narcissus...and I am thankful that...once more...I am surrounded by the beauty of plants which love to bloom...
