Walking the Wild

This past weekend...I walked the woods with two family members...in search of wild flowers...strange new species...and other interesting markings of and on the land... We were not disappointed...the early bird flowers...yellows and purples...always visible first....were abundant. This season around...we are surprised to see blooms and greens which have not grown here in previous years .... in particular...a small and delicate... orchid..."discovered" by my daughter....a picture of which will be posted soon............

Back on Track

So...this is by far the longest break I've taken from Meanders since starting this adventure almost a year ago...it was not a planned hiatus...but just sort of happened...maybe life's other pulls just took over for awhile...or maybe it was the warm weather...the coming of the long summer nights of light... luring me to other... ouside...activities...and to more reasonable times for sleep.... but...then again...it could have been suddenly stepping into myspace...the social whirlpool of websites...and the inevitable searching for... and keeping up with... friends within friends of friends... pulling me and my brain further and deeper into the entangling web..............till I could take it no more....and had to get things back on track...whew!

Elk Meadows

Since some weeks now the elk have returned to the meadows on Magnolia....and I often see them on the way home...if I take the high road. Frankly...they couldn't pick better lands to return to every year....abundant herbage...cool water...wide open breezy spaces...... Seeing sights such as this...is one of the many reasons I love living the Colorado mountains..........

When I knew her...this young woman was one of those who exude their inner goodness...naturally and effortessly...as you can probably tell from this photograph. It was always nice to be around her gentle spirit and catchy melodious laugh...which I can still hear ringing after all these years. I hope that life has been kind... wherever it has taken her............

Aspen Stand

The aspen stand like silhouetted skeletons
against the warm blue sky...
their bloomless limbs
a sharp contrast
to the flowering going on
all around them...
the starkness is striking against
the timely returnees'
green red and pink...
and I can only wonder why
colorado's gold is so long
in returning................
